KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 27): Bina Darulaman Bhd (KL:BDB), which is majority-owned by the Kedah state government, has appointed Che Abdul Khalid Md Din as its new group chief executive officer, effective Nov 1.

Che Abdul Khalid is set to succeed YM Raja Shahreen Raja Othman, whose fixed-term contract is set to expire at the end of this month, according to bourse filings on Monday.

According to Bina Darulaman, Che Abdul Khalid has over 30 years of experience in property development and construction.

He has served as chief operating officer (COO) of the Kedah State Development Corporation-owned Kulim Technology Park Corp Sdn Bhd (KTPC) since November 2021, a position he is set to step down from on Oct 31.

“Che Abdul Khalid was actively involved in securing both foreign and domestic direct investments for Kulim Hi-Tech Park, contributing to impressive investment performances of RM10.7 billion in 2022, RM20.1 billion in 2023 and RM32.4 billion in 2024.

“He also spearheaded strategic planning for all Build and Lease projects, managing processes from design to agreement execution and final project handover to clients,” the company said.

He served as a general manager of KTPC between April 2019 until he was promoted to the COO post.

He also previously served as a general manager at Darulaman Realty Sdn Bhd (now known as BDB Land Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned unit of Bina Darulaman) and Kedah Holdings Sdn Bhd between 2006 and 2008.

He is currently director of KSDC Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Kedah, a position he has held since August 2023.

Shares in Bina Darulaman ended four sen or 16.67% higher at 28 sen on Monday, valuing the company at RM83.38 million.
